24 weeks!

Week 24- Pregnancy Highlights

Size of baby: About 8.5 inches long and weighs about 1 1/2 lbs!

Maternity Clothes: Yes- with a few regular items mixed in.

Gender: Boy

Movement: He is very active!  Lots of kicks/punches.  I can often tell what side he is on or where he is in my belly.  His kicks visibly shake my belly!  I have been feeling movement since around 16-17 weeks and it has just increased and gotten stronger since!  He also enjoys kicking my bladder which is not so pleasant.

Sleep: Ugh.  Hasn't been fun lately...which is why I'm making this post at 1 AM.  I crash and take naps during the day then can't sleep at night.  Throw my night shift schedule in and it is hopeless.  I can no longer sleep well during the day after working all night.  I usually wake up after about 4 hours of sleep and can't go back to sleep...which makes for a very tired nurse when I have to work again the next night.  I've never been a back-sleeper, but now that I'm not supposed to sleep on my back it seems that's the one way I would love to sleep.  I get tired of sleeping on my sides!  I think it is time to invest in a body pillow...

Cravings: Mexican food has started sounding good again.  Didn't really sound appetizing until the last week or so.  Yesterday, I had a craving for chinese food- specifically crab rangoon.  YUM.

Symptoms: Oh my...lots of movement from the little guy, growing belly, reflux, heartburn (this is new for me, never ever experienced it until now), sleep issues, round ligament pain, always warm, feet/ankles swelled a little recently (after being in heels all day in a wedding), cravings (none too crazy, though), and a couple other issues I won't go into....name a pregnancy symptom- I bet I have it!

Other randoms....

I have neglected this blog. :(
I would love to get back into the swing of making semi-regular posts.  Honestly, I've just been tired and usually do not feel like I have the mental energy to blog.  I thought I would be better at taking belly pictures and posting pregnancy updates....thought I'd be WAY better at it...but that was before I was pregnant.  ;)  Anyway, to my followers- thanks for not deleting me!  I hope to do better!

Baby has a name!
I don't think I have announced his name on the neglected blog yet.  Our baby boy's name will be Holden!  We have loved this name for years...and are super excited about finally getting to meet our Holden. :)  We have not decided on a middle name yet...

Nursery
Well...we haven't made a whole lot of nursery preparing/decorating progress yet.  We have the crib which we ordered online from Target.  Actually, the first one that was delivered was damaged and had to be sent back.  Luckily, they sent us another one very quickly!  It is assembled---but we have no mattress yet.  We have his bedding which is the Madras Nursery Bedding from Pottery Barn.  (But we went with the Jackson whales sheet instead of the turtles.)  We are planning to do a simple white chair rail with a light green to match the green in the bedding on top and a tannish color on bottom.  We're not doing a theme really...I just want it to be colorful, fun, and functional.  I have ordered a few fun prints from Etsy to frame and hang in his room.  Need to find a glider rocker (been searching Craigslist) and we have an old dresser that we are going to paint and add new hardware to.  We will use the dresser for his changing table as well.  Also looking for some wide floating shelves for display/storage.  (The room is VERY small!)  Lots to do!!!  We are also in the middle of a mini kitchen redo and still have to paint the kitchen walls.  Oy... too many things going at once!  I will try to post pictures of the kitchen when it is
done...and then of course, the nursery...assuming it ever gets done!

Residency
My hubby, Shon, starts his ER residency this Friday.  We are so blessed that he was accepted into the local program so we didn't have to move and put more distance between us and our families.  I am still nervous about him starting residency though.  I won't lie---I feel like we've had it made while he has been in medical school.  We've seen a lot of each other.  We've spent many days home together just hanging out or doing as we please.  I haven't felt the stress on our relationship that some other medical spouse wives have dealt with.  So, I'm afraid the "worst" is about to start for us now.  I know it is a natural transition and obviously, I know Shon is going to be a doctor and that he will be working a lot....starting now and not ending for a long time.  It is just a little scary to start that transition.  I LOVE my husband so much...I miss him when he's gone hardly anytime at all.  I enjoy spending time with him.  We are so blessed to have the relationship we have.  Basically, I'm just afraid I'm going to miss him horribly! :(  I'm going to have to become more independent.  I feel a bit as though we've been adults for a while...but not really "grown-ups."  I think that's about to really begin...with residency starting and baby on the way.  It's a new chapter...I know we'll settle into it and figure it all out.  It's just kind of bittersweet.  And I'm hormonal...and emotional. ;)

Here are some pics to catch you up! :)
