A First Father's Day...

(Not fully crawling yet... but he does have the army crawl mastered.)

On Father's Day, we went to church.  Then we drove to Pappy & Gigi's house to visit.  Gigi made delicious lasagna, salad, and bread.  Later that evening, we went on a walk down by the river.  Well, Holden got strolled by Pappy, Gigi, & Aunt Sophia while daddy & I ran.  It is so nice when we get to run together... I love having a running buddy!  We were going to run for 15 minutes since I hadn't run in a week.  But after 15, I decided to go for 20, and after 20 I decided to go for 25.  I was impressed that I was able to do it after a week of being lazy! ;)  Speaking of running - daddy got new running shoes for Father's Day.

Holden gave daddy (and mommy!) another nice Father's Day present - he completely slept through the night that night... no waking up/crying at all, ever, not even once!  This is a rarity.  We usually go through at least a couple of cry/paci replacements every night!

We had a nice day.  So thankful we got to spend it together.

Happy Father's Day Weekend!

My dad has worked hard to give my sister and I a better childhood than he had himself.  He would do anything for us in a heartbeat.  He prayed with me beside my bed when I was a little girl asking Jesus into my heart, baptized me, walked me down the aisle on my wedding day, and performed our wedding ceremony.  He even bought me my "dream car" a little before I turned 16 - a 2000 black firebird that we still drive today. ;)  Having worked hard to earn a doctoral degree himself, he instilled in me the value of education.  Most of all, he has always encouraged me to put God first in my life.  Now, he is a VERY proud Pappy to Holden.  I'm pretty sure Holden is already a fan of Pappy, too.

Shon's dad is an adored father to six children and fourteen grandchildren.  He is the best father-in-law a girl could ask for.  Like Shon, he is laid-back, calm, cool,and collected and always has a smile.  Everyone who knows him likes him.  I don't think he knows an enemy.  I'm very thankful to him for the example he has been for Shon - which has helped shape him into a wonderful husband and father.  I think Holden is already fond of him, too.  Their favorite thing to do together is go on four-wheeler rides around the yard. ;)

And last but not least, my hubby, who is the best daddy ever as I knew he would be.  He loves his baby boy like crazy and is so proud to be his daddy.  He has been my rock during this journey of

new-parenthood.  He has handled it with grace and patience and I cannot imagine parenting without him.  I know that he is going to be Holden's favorite person in the entire world and that Holden will look up to him SO much.  I am SO thankful to have him as the father of my children because he is definitely exactly who I want them looking up to.  Holden is so lucky, so blessed, to have him as his daddy.  I feel like in marrying Shon, I not only made the best decision of my life... but also the best decision for the lives of my children.  There is no better man for the job.  I am so very proud of him and proud to be his wife....and I know that Holden will be so proud to be his son.
