(Actually taken on his first birthday!) ;)
At ONE YEAR OLD...
You still just have 4 teeth but very soon will have 4 on top, two on bottom for a grand total of 6.
You weighed 20 lbs. 6 oz. (with diaper) at your one year well check. You are 29 1/4 inches long.
You wear 12 month/ 12-18 month clothing but you can still wear some 6-12 month, just depends. Size 3 diaper, size 4 at night.
You took your first 3 steps on March 22nd. You will occasionally take a few steps but no more than a few. You still choose/prefer to crawl. Not officially a walker yet.
Even though you aren't walking, you are climbing. You can climb steps, climb up onto your brother's "anywhere chair," etc. You are quite the little risk taker. Dada says you will climb out of your crib before your big brother does!
You also walk behind stuff- such as Holden's Thomas the Train ride on/push toy... you push that thing all around, make turns, etc.
Sleeping is the same. You take one nap, which is usually a decent one. You wake once a night - usually around 5-6. I nurse you and you go back to sleep for a couple of hours. I know you don't neeeeed to be waking, but I'm not stressed about it.
Still nursing, as noted above. You've also gotten much better with a sippy cup. You don't seem to be a big fan of cow's milk though. You mostly drink water out of your cup.
You love to eat. You eat blueberry pancakes or waffles with your brother in the morning. You love bananas, strawberries, basically all fruits, raviolis, small pieces of turkey dogs, mashed potatoes, meatloaf, chicken, sausage, yogurt, peas, bread, cheese, goldfish, cheerios, baby snacks.... pretty much anything we tear up into small pieces and put in front of you, you will eat. You are always happy when eating and seem like a bottomless pit most of the time!
You have been jabbering a ton lately, but mama and dada are the only real "words" you say.
You wave, dance, clap, give fives, give kisses, and your most recent trick is blowing kisses. You picked up on this because when Dada is home to carry Holden to bed, I blow kisses to him as they go down the hallway to his room. Recently, I noticed you blowing kisses as soon as they started walking down the hallway - before I was even doing it! So cute.
You still mostly prefer Mama but seem to be getting better about that slowly but surely. You go to childcare at church for bible study once a week and when we go to church here on Sundays. You always cry when we hand you off, but now you have started actually allowing being put down and are playing with the toys, etc. and enjoying yourself I think. Whereas before, I think you stayed on someone's hip the whole time and just survived until Mama came to get you.
You are starting to play with your brother more and more. You are often crawling up and down the hallway or are each pushing a toy such as the train, another push toy, and the plasma car up and down the hallway. Lots of giggling is involved. You're always around each other and playing around each other obviously, but those are two ways that you really seem to be playing WITH each other.
You are so silly. You laugh constantly, fake laugh, and just make silly faces. You will crawl around with a toy hanging out of your mouth...or randomly be sucking on a paci which, Lord knows, you would never actually take one! You almost always have one sock off. You are just always cracking us up. Pretty much everything you do is funny.
You are such a happy baby. So content. So good!
Ohhhh, Brooksy Boy. "Brooksamillion." "B-Man." "Brooksy-my-boy." (Dada says that last one a lot.) You are awesome. You bring us so much joy and love. You are the greatest little surprise and blessing. We love you to pieces. We feel like we were just finding out that you were going to join our family... and here you are, already one. It's crazy. We feel so incredibly blessed that your ours. You are the perfect addition to our family. I hope you know how much you're loved! It has been a wonderful first year, sweet boy.
